As a partner to the universities, SWITCH brought the Internet to Switzerland 25 years ago. Today, the non-profit organisation with 100 employees at its head office in Zurich develops Internet services for lecturers, researchers, students and commercial customers. SWITCH stands for security in the Internet.
nic.at is the Austrian registry for all .at, .co.at and .or.at domains. The owner of nic.at is the non-profit Internet Foundation Austria (IPA) whose foundation purpose is the promotion of the Internet in Austria. nic.at regards itself as a competence center of expertise as well as a contact for questions around domains and the Austrian Internet and regularly publishes news around the domain world. Since 2010 nic.at has been offering in-house developments like the registry system “Registry-in-a-Box” and the Anycast-Domain Name Service “RcodeZero” via subsidiary companies to external customers and gives advice to applicants for new Top Level Domains.
DENIC eG is the central registry for all domains below the top level domain .de. The company’s duties are varied: it provides an automatic electronic registration system, it operates a network of nameservers all around the world, and it offers a number of further services for the German internet community.
